Why the Home You Want Might Never Show Up on Zillow

Beginning September 4, 2026, Northwest MLS First Look is a pre-Active status that can last up to 21 days. During that window, a seller may publicly market the home while deciding whether it will be distributed through IDX to participating brokerage websites. If the seller does not select IDX distribution, the property may be missing from the public portal you check every morning.

That does not make the home a private listing. Every First Look property must be submitted to Northwest MLS and made available to all member brokers. The gap is between what the public portal displays and what a member broker can verify inside Northwest MLS.

A saved search is still useful. It is no longer enough to assume that every pre-Active opportunity will appear in the same place at the same time. One seller may choose IDX distribution and allow showings. Another may market more selectively to the public and wait until Active status for showings.
